Day 14: Lisbon Portugal

Saturday 14th September.

Today is mainly travel, 11:45 am flight to Lisbon.

As usual your group arranged transport and got us to the airport with hours to spare. Still Marrakech airport was very modern and comfortable.

Arrived at Lisbon after a 1 hour 20 minute flight, but it was still 3ish before we got to the hotel.

A bit of a wander around the hotel area the came across a small cafe saying they did authentic Portugese chicken. We were not overly hungry so we have it a go.

Very basic meal of chicken and chips but the chicken was indeed great.

Interesting to see Lisbon had a toilet paper shortage during the pandemic also

Good seeing so many buildings covered with tiles.

Day 13: Marrakech

 Friday 13th September.

Last day in Morrocco before heading to Portugal which we have declared a day of rest.

Spent the day around the pool

We watched the locals taking family photos of the hotel, which seemed rather pointless to me

To night we say goodbye to our fellow travellers and we are back to just the two of us (well for a short time anyway)

Bye bye Morocco.

Day 12: Atlas Mountains

 Thursday 12th September.

So today we drive to the base of the Atlas Mountains and travel up one of the valleys. The area is not thriving as it used to, still recovering from the September 2023 earthquake where many died. This is on top of a seven year drought. Our destination about 45km south east from our hotel.

We stop and visit a Grandma who let's tourists visit in her typical Berber House. It was really interesting, she even made us fresh bread on the fire.

A quick stop at a local museum

Dinner Time!
But there is a catch, we cook our own at a local cooking school.
First they make us some bread before putting us to work

Lemon Chicken Tangine here we come with my Sous Chef Carolyn.

Great day!
